Traditional Medical Treatments are ineffective for Back Pain

Today the medical journal The Lancet published a study showing that traditional medical treatment for back pain is largely ineffective.

Strong painkillers, surgery and injections have little or no effect in the majority of people.

The papers refer to the guidelines endorsed in Denmark, the US and in the UK recommending the use of spinal manipulation often used in chiropractic, acupuncture and massage. These three therapies not only provide passive physical therapy but also reassurance and advice on exercise and other strategies useful in relieving and managing back pain.

The three papers in the series are all available for download below.
