Your contact with the ground will set in motion a whole chain of events from the foot through the ankle, the knee, the hip, the pelvis and the spine. At best the wrong footwear will limit your performance but it has the potential to cause serious and long-standing injury. Choose your shoes with care.

Recent Australian research suggests that working in a role you do not enjoy make you more likely to suffer back  pain than your colleagues who enjoy their work. The study will be presented at a Pain Society meeting in late April by its author, Rheumatologist, Orthopaedic Surgeon and Associate Professor Markus Melloh.

Sue is joining us.

Following the retirement of Judith we are excited to announce that Sue is taking her place. Sue was picked from over 150 candidates and we are sure that you will enjoy meeting her at the reception desk. When carrying something it is generally considered better to distribute the weight evenly and holding it as close to your body as possible. This is why a backpack or a rucksack often is recommended as a school bag. However, for it to be of benefit it needs to be worn over both shoulders and, when packed, the weight of the bag should not exceed 10% of the child’s weight.

Is your pillow a pain in the neck? - or the back or the head?

If you wake up with neck pain, back pain and/or headaches, which disappear fairly quickly after rising you may benefit from adjusting the height of the pillow you sleep on. It does not necessarily mean that you have to get new pillow, as you may be able to make the one you have already support you better. So how do you do that?

Do you get ‘normal’ headaches?

Wahooo - We made it into the Worthing Herald.

A couple of weeks ago the journalist, Catrin Shi, from the Worthing Herald came to see Sarah for acupuncture. She was so impressed that she wrote a whole page in the paper about it.

It was published on March 8, 2012. And yes, she has been back.
